The Photos module lists the available photos for the selected patient. The Photos module may be available on your Apple® device, if your organization has implemented this feature, and if you have been granted access to it. The photos that are available to you in this module (all photos, just those taken by users in the same department or facility as you, or only your own photos) are based on your user profile. This list of photos in the Photos module may include photos taken to register a new patient (referred to as photo registration, or Photo Reg), photos taken of or about an existing patient, photos of handwritten notes that a physician wants to capture quickly, or other useful items associated with a patient. All photos are taken on an Apple device and then associated with a patient record. The Photos, Patient List, and Charges modules all allow to you to perform a variety of activities related to taking new photos or managing existing photos:

Taking a New Photo for an Existing Patient

At any time you can take a new photo and associate it with an existing patient. For example, you might take a photo of a patient’s face to use as identification, or of a handwritten note to use as a memory aid when entering charges or notes at a later time. Or in another example you might take a photo of a wound, a rash, or other medical issue to accompany a note, a charge, or consult request. To take a new photo for an existing patient, follow these steps:
  1. From the Photos module, tap Add , located in the top right corner of the Summary screen. If this is the first time you have attempted to take a photo using the Commure Pro application, the following message is displayed: “Commure Pro would like to access the camera. This application requires access to the camera in order to allow you to take photos to be used when registering patients or sending chat messages.” Tap OK to allow access to the camera.
  2. Take a photograph. You can tap Retake to re-shoot the photo as many times as necessary until you have the desired image.
  3. Once you have the image you want, tap Use Photo. A dialog box with a Title field is displayed.
  4. Tap into the Title field and enter a title for the photo, or leave the field blank, and then tap Save. If you enter a title, that title will be shown on the Summary screen of the Photos module as the title of the photo. If you leave the field blank, the date/time the photo was taken will be used as the title instead, in the format of YYYYMMDDHHMMSS. The photo is then stored with the patient and immediately submitted to the server so that it can be viewed on the Commure Pro web application or a mobile device as part of the patient’s record, by any user with permission to view it. Please note that the photo will not be available on the device’s camera roll.

Deleting a Photo

If you find that a photo is incorrect for a patient, or that it is no longer needed, you can delete it from the patient’s list of photos. You can delete the photo directly from the Photos Summary screen, or from the Details screen. Instructions for both are below. The ability to delete photos is available only if enabled in your user profile. When you delete a photo, it is permanently removed from the patient’s record. Please note that it is deleted even if it was associated with a charge transaction. To delete a photo from the Summary screen:
  1. On the Photos Summary screen, review the patient’s photos and identify the photo that you want to delete.
  2. Touch the photo and swipe to the left to expose the Delete button .
  3. Tap Delete .
  4. When prompted to confirm the deletion, select Yes. The photo is deleted from the patient’s record.

To delete a photo from the Details screen

  1. On the Photos Summary screen, review the patient’s photos and identify the photo that you want to delete.
  2. Tap the photo to open the Details screen.
  3. Review the image to be sure you want to delete it, and if so, tap Delete at the top of the screen.
  4. When prompted to confirm the deletion, select Yes. The photo is deleted from the patient’s record.
