# Managing your Charge and Diagnosis Favorites and Department Lists

> Managing charge and diagnosis code favorites and department lists in the Android app.

* **Favorites**: The charge and diagnosis **Favorites** lists are lists of those charge and diagnosis codes that you, personally, have marked as favorites. These are simply lists of the charge and diagnosis codes that you use most frequently. You can make the following changes to your **Favorites** lists:
  * You can add items to your **Favorites** list. See *[Adding Items to your Charge or Diagnosis Favorites Lists](../enter_patient_data/manage-charge-diagnosis-pickers#adding-items-to-your-charge-or-diagnosis-favorites-lists)*.
  * You can remove items from your **Favorites** list. See *[Removing Items from your Charge or Diagnosis Favorites Lists](../enter_patient_data/manage-charge-diagnosis-pickers#removing-items-from-your-charge-or-diagnosis-favorites-lists)*.
  * You can pin a **Favorites** subcategory open so that when you first access the Add Charge or Add Diagnosis screen, it is always open by default. See *[Pinning a Charge or Diagnosis Subcategory Open](../enter_patient_data/manage-charge-diagnosis-pickers#pinning-a-charge-or-diagnosis-subcategory-open)*.
* **Department** categories: The charge and diagnosis **Department** categories contain lists of those items that members of your department use frequently. Typically, these categories are created by administrators for all members of the department. You can make the following changes to the **Department** categories:
  * You can pin a **Department** subcategory open so that when you first access the Add Charge or Add Diagnosis screen, it is always open by default. See *[Pinning a Charge or Diagnosis Subcategory Open](../enter_patient_data/manage-charge-diagnosis-pickers#pinning-a-charge-or-diagnosis-subcategory-open)*.

## Adding Items to your Charge or Diagnosis Favorites Lists

When looking at the items in your **Department** list, or at the results of a **Search**, you might see a charge code, diagnosis code, or diagnosis search term that you would like to add to your **Favorites** list. You can easily add any of these items to your **Favorites** list at any time. Once you do so, you can then quickly select those items from your **Favorites** list when entering charges or clinical notes for patients. You can add up to one hundred items to each of the **Favorites** lists.

<Note>
  You cannot add charge macros to your charge **Favorites** list on your device, although you can perform this action on the web application.
</Note>

1. Start the process for entering a charge transaction or clinical note and then take either of the actions below:
   * For a charge transaction, tap **ADD CHARGE** <Icon icon="plus" iconType="solid" /> or **ADD DIAGNOSIS** <img src="https://mintcdn.com/commure-pro/bEuBF0fSnsVKptDm/images/Add_Diagnosis_button.gif?s=0c6bb451772879b778462bb7d1987e7d" alt="Add Diagnosis button" width="91" height="18" data-path="images/Add_Diagnosis_button.gif" />

* For a clinical note, tap **Search For Problems** in a specific section of the note.

  <img src="https://mintcdn.com/commure-pro/ZfzqMuLFyFpmAZ2s/images/Search_for_Problems_button.gif?s=89b03bc609db14b997b0b321366413ea" alt="Search for Problems button" width="177" height="32" data-path="images/Search_for_Problems_button.gif" />

  The Add Charge or Add Diagnosis screen is displayed.

2. Select or use either of the options below:
   * **Search** (perform a search for a charge or diagnosis code, so that a list of results is shown)
   * **Department** category (tap on a **Department** category to see the list of items within it)
3. Identify the charge code diagnosis code, or diagnosis search term that you want to add to your **Favorites** list and perform any of the actions below:

* Tap on an item to first select it. This will add the item to the charge transaction or note, so only use this method if you want to add it to the transaction/note, in addition to marking it as a favorite. Then tap on the gray **Favorite** button that appears at the top right of the screen. (Please note that you cannot use this method to add a diagnosis search term to your **Favorites** list.)

  <Icon icon="star" iconType="regular" />

  * Swipe right to left on an item’s row to expose the gray **Favorite** button <Icon icon="star" iconType="regular" /> on the same row. Tap the gray **Favorite** button.
    In both of the cases above, the **Favorite** button now changes to gold and the item is added to the top of your **Favorites** list, above any **Favorites** subcategories that you might have created (on the web application).

<Note>
  If a code is *already* on your favorites list, you will see a gold **Favorite** button on the row or in the top banner, instead of a gray one. You can tap this button to remove the code from your **Favorites** list.

  <Icon icon="star" iconType="solid" />
</Note>

## Removing Items from your Charge or Diagnosis Favorites Lists

If you decide that it is no longer useful to have a particular charge code, diagnosis code, or diagnosis search term on your **Favorites** list, you can remove it.

<Note>
  You cannot remove charge macros from your charge **Favorites** list on your device, although you can perform this action on the web application.
</Note>

1. Start the process for entering a charge transaction or clinical note and then take either of the actions below:
   * For a charge transaction, tap **ADD CHARGE** <Icon icon="plus" iconType="solid" /> or **ADD DIAGNOSIS** <img src="https://mintcdn.com/commure-pro/bEuBF0fSnsVKptDm/images/Add_Diagnosis_button.gif?s=0c6bb451772879b778462bb7d1987e7d" alt="Add Diagnosis button" width="91" height="18" data-path="images/Add_Diagnosis_button.gif" />

* For a clinical note, tap **Search For Problems** in a specific section of the note.

  <img src="https://mintcdn.com/commure-pro/ZfzqMuLFyFpmAZ2s/images/Search_for_Problems_button.gif?s=89b03bc609db14b997b0b321366413ea" alt="Search for Problems button" width="177" height="32" data-path="images/Search_for_Problems_button.gif" />

  The Add Charge or Add Diagnosis screen is displayed.

2. Tap **Favorites** to expand the **Favorites** list and review the codes within it (if it is not already expanded).
3. Review the codes on the **Favorites** list, identify the charge code diagnosis code, or diagnosis search term that you want to remove, and then perform any of the actions below:

* Swipe right to left on its row to expose the gold **Favorite** button on the same row. Tap the gold **Favorite** button.

  <Icon icon="star" iconType="solid" />
* Tap on an item to first select it. This will add the item to the charge transaction or note, so only use this method if you want to add it to the transaction/note, before removing it from your **Favorites** list. Then tap on the gold **Favorite** button that appears at the top right of the screen. (Please note that you cannot use this method to remove a diagnosis search term from your **Favorites** list.)

  <Icon icon="star" iconType="solid" />

In both of the cases above, the code is immediately removed from your **Favorites** list.

## Pinning a Charge or Diagnosis Subcategory Open

When the Add Charge or the Add Diagnosis screen first opens, the top level of the charge or diagnosis **Favorites** category is opened by default (with all of the subcategories below it closed), so that you can quickly select items from the top of that list. However, if you prefer that a specific **Favorites** or **Department** subcategory be opened by default instead, you can pin that *one* subcategory open. Note that if you pin open a subcategory, then the top level category to which it belongs (top level **Favorites** or top level **Department**) is opened by default as well.

You can still manually open or close the top level **Favorites** or **Department** categories, or any of their subcategories, to view their contents, but the selected subcategory is always open when you first access either of these screens. You may also deselect the "pinned open" subcategory, or select a different subcategory to pin open, at any time.

To perform any of these actions, first open the Add Charge or Add Diagnosis screen:

1. Start the process for entering a charge transaction or clinical note and then take either of the actions below:
   * For a charge transaction, tap **ADD CHARGE** <Icon icon="plus" iconType="solid" /> or **ADD DIAGNOSIS** <img src="https://mintcdn.com/commure-pro/bEuBF0fSnsVKptDm/images/Add_Diagnosis_button.gif?s=0c6bb451772879b778462bb7d1987e7d" alt="Add Diagnosis button" width="91" height="18" data-path="images/Add_Diagnosis_button.gif" />

* For a clinical note, tap **Search For Problems** in a specific section of the note.

  <img src="https://mintcdn.com/commure-pro/ZfzqMuLFyFpmAZ2s/images/Search_for_Problems_button.gif?s=89b03bc609db14b997b0b321366413ea" alt="Search for Problems button" width="177" height="32" data-path="images/Search_for_Problems_button.gif" />

  The Add Charge or Add Diagnosis screen is displayed.

To select a **Favorites** or **Department** subcategory to pin open:

1. Open the Add Charge or Add Diagnosis screen as described above.
2. Identify the **Favorites** or **Department** subcategory that you want to keep open and then take any of the actions below:

* Tap on the subcategory that you want to keep open, and then tap the gray **Pin** button at the top right of the screen. A gray **Pin** button appears to the right of the subcategory name to indicate that this subcategory is now pinned open.

  <img src="https://mintcdn.com/commure-pro/ZfzqMuLFyFpmAZ2s/images/Pin_button_gray.gif?s=c184b911f70ac6cb6b9b895f31078ef0" alt="Pin button gray" width="23" height="23" data-path="images/Pin_button_gray.gif" />
* Swipe left to right on the subcategory that you want to keep open, and then tap the gray **Pin** button that is exposed at the far right of the subcategory’s row. The gray **Pin** button changes to a white **Pin** button to indicate that this subcategory is now pinned open.

  <img src="https://mintcdn.com/commure-pro/ZfzqMuLFyFpmAZ2s/images/Pin_button_gray.gif?s=c184b911f70ac6cb6b9b895f31078ef0" alt="Pin button gray" width="23" height="23" data-path="images/Pin_button_gray.gif" />

### To change the **Favorites** or **Department** subcategory that is pinned open

1. Open the Add Charge or Add Diagnosis screen as described above.
   The currently "pinned open" subcategory is opened by default and shows a gray **Pin** button to the right of the subcategory name.

<img src="https://mintcdn.com/commure-pro/ZfzqMuLFyFpmAZ2s/images/Pin_button_gray.gif?s=c184b911f70ac6cb6b9b895f31078ef0" alt="Pin button gray" width="23" height="23" data-path="images/Pin_button_gray.gif" />

2. Identify the new **Favorites** or **Department** subcategory that you want to keep open and repeat [Step 2](../enter_patient_data/manage-charge-diagnosis-pickers#pinning-a-charge-or-diagnosis-subcategory-open) above, using any of the methods listed there to select a new subcategory to pin open. The newly selected subcategory will simply replace the old one as the subcategory that is pinned open (you do not have to "clear" the prior subcategory in order to select a new one).

### To clear the **Favorites** or **Department** subcategory that is kept open, so that the top level **Favorites** category is instead opened by default

1. Open the Add Charge or Add Diagnosis screen as described above.
   The currently "pinned open" subcategory is opened by default and shows a gray **Pin** button to the right of the subcategory name.

<img src="https://mintcdn.com/commure-pro/ZfzqMuLFyFpmAZ2s/images/Pin_button_gray.gif?s=c184b911f70ac6cb6b9b895f31078ef0" alt="Pin button gray" width="23" height="23" data-path="images/Pin_button_gray.gif" />

2. Locate the **Favorites** or **Department** subcategory that is currently "pinned open" and then take any of the actions below:

* Tap on the subcategory that is currently pinned open, and then tap the white **Pin** button at the top right of the screen. The gray **Pin** button is removed from the right of the subcategory name.

<img src="https://mintcdn.com/commure-pro/ZfzqMuLFyFpmAZ2s/images/Pin_button_white.gif?s=abfe25ce141b19b76ec163a9fe5cb544" alt="Pin button white" width="23" height="23" data-path="images/Pin_button_white.gif" />

<img src="https://mintcdn.com/commure-pro/ZfzqMuLFyFpmAZ2s/images/Pin_button_gray.gif?s=c184b911f70ac6cb6b9b895f31078ef0" alt="Pin button gray" width="23" height="23" data-path="images/Pin_button_gray.gif" />

* Swipe left to right on the subcategory that is currently pinned open, and then tap the white **Pin** button that is exposed at the far right of the subcategory’s row. The white **Pin** button changes to a gray **Pin** button.

  <img src="https://mintcdn.com/commure-pro/ZfzqMuLFyFpmAZ2s/images/Pin_button_white.gif?s=abfe25ce141b19b76ec163a9fe5cb544" alt="Pin button white" width="23" height="23" data-path="images/Pin_button_white.gif" />

  The **Favorites** or **Department** subcategory is no longer pinned open and the top level **Favorites** category will now open by default instead.
